The ARISE+ project offers a set of innovative, ready-to-use lesson materials that help learners explore what lived democracy means in today’s Europe. Through three interconnected learning experiences, students develop a deeper understanding of democratic values, strengthen their 21st-century skills, and learn to apply these insights in authentic, real-world tasks.
1. Word Café & Podcast Creation
Students engage in structured dialogue on five dimensions of inclusiveness—ranging from leisure to labour opportunities—and collaboratively transform their insights into short, thoughtful podcasts. This lesson fosters respectful discussion, international collaboration, and clear communication.
2. Democratic Values Magazine (Interview Project)
Learners investigate democratic values through interviews with peers, teachers, and family members. They write articles, columns, and research pieces that together form a bilingual magazine for young readers. In this lesson, students develop interviewing skills, critical thinking, and strong editorial writing.
3. European Values Poster Design
In teams, students design persuasive posters that promote democratic engagement and European values. After brainstorming key messages and behavioural goals, they create digital posters using online design tools. The activity strengthens creativity, visual literacy, and civic awareness.
Together, these lessons guide students from discussion to investigation to public expression—three essential pillars of democratic participation. They can be used independently or as a complete learning
